That's the conclusion of a Cybersecurity Ventures study which was reported by SC Magazine. The study shows that there will be a total of 1 million cybersecurity jobs open in 2016, most of them in the U.S. This number is expected to grow to 1.5 million by 2019.
Those statistics seem logical enough to me but they come with a couple of caveats. Many employers need three cybersecurity employees but can only afford to hire one, so they write a job description that is impossibly broad. And those folks flocking to cybersecurity as a profession? The truth is that you are a rookie until you become a seasoned professional so your initial salary expectations may be too high.
Cybersecurity is a great field, but it takes years to become an experienced professional – and those veterans are the ones commanding the large salaries.
